Prahran Football Club, Fri Jul 13, 2018 11:25AM

WELCOME to  Tim's Tips - Selections for main Melbourne race meetings by former Herald Sun sports journalist Tim Habel. He is now a contributor to The Age so his tips for major city meetings will be in The Age formguide.

CAULFIELD SATURDAY JULY 14. Rail out 11m. Track good 4.

BRUTAL 1, Ronan's Rock 2, Humma Mumma 3, La Parva 4

Debutants Brutal and Ronan's Rock have impressed in Flemington jump outs and may fight this out.

MAGNESIUM ROSE 1, Soul Star 2, Josephine Sea 3, Miss Norway 4

Magnesium Rose ran on well from last in a strong form race at Sandown,. better draw this time.

ANOTHER COLDIE 1, Mantastic 2, Guizot 3, Bling Dynasty 4

Match between the Weir stablemates, staying with Another Coldie who will settle closer from the favourable draw. Just peaked on his run when run down by another stablemate Silentz at Flemington.

THE AVENGER 1, Demoltion 2, Dane Thunder 3, Mr Gustavo 4

Demolotion would rate on top but he's third emergency so in his absence Sydney visitor The Avenger is well placed. He was a track and distance winner in January.

RILLITO 1, Divine Quality 2, Life On The Wire 3, Mamzelle Tess 4

Rillito always had her rivals covered in a similar race at the track and distance a fortnight ago. Can't see an extra 2.5kg being enough to prevent a repeat.

MASCULINO 1, Mount Kilcoy 2, Fanciful Toff 3, Pure Colour 4

Masculino is 'in the zone' after dominant on pace wins at his past two starts. Only rises a kilo. His obvious danger is Mount Kilcoy on a seven day back-up from Flemington when rider admitted he left his run a shade late.

JUKEBOX 1, Voodoo Lad 2, Innkeeper 3, Crystal Dreamer 4

Early signs of spring with the clash of classy colt Jukebox and Group class Voodoo Lad. Both are very good fresh and at Caulfield. Jukebox has impressed in recent jump outs and may have the edge. Always respect the fit in-form sprinter in these winter contests which applies to Golden Topaz winner Innkeeper.

SNITZIPEG 1, Al Passem 2, Street Sheik 3, Summer Sham 4

Barriers are the key here. Snitzipeg went back to last, ran on well behind Al Passem here a fortnight ago. Now they have drawn 1 and 2 respectively. They will take running down and if the pace is too hot and a swooper prevails it will be Street Sheik who had no luck angling for a rails run in the straight in the same race.

WIDGEE TURF 1, Theanswermyfriend 2, Call Me Handsome 3, Barthelona 4

Good race, expect a hot pace given the likes of Theanswermyfriend, Barthelona and Top Me Up. That will suit the in-form Widgee Turf who produced an explosive sprint to win the Victoria Handicap at this track and distance in April. Enigmatic Theanswermyfriend resumes in a new yard, if anyone can weave the magic to extract his best it is D K Weir. Call Me Handsome was enormous resuming after racing wide without cover and was still strong to the line here a fortnight but does rise to open class.

BEST BETS: Rillito, Another Coldie . BEST VALUE BET: Widgee Turf.
